I finished my Tiger painting several days ago, but I forgot to post it on my blog. I was so busy starting on a new painting. Some days I can't seem to find enough time to paint, take care of all of my responsibilities at home, catch up with family, friends, and have time for hubby. I don't know how I ever made it through some of the things I've been through and held a full time job in the work force several years back. Being an Interpreter for high school deaf students who were brought in from the deaf school system into the public school system, I faced a daily challenge- but rewarding one,too. I miss the students a lot. They always had something new to say to me, asking me questions all of the time, challenging me to think and learn along with them.We never made a penny from any of the art my students and I created in that school classroom back then, but we made art because we could, and because we needed to create. Painted in oils on an Ampersand art board, $325.00.

Wild and Free- unfinished- part 2 by Sandra R Cutrer
For the last few days, I've worked on "Wild and Free", along with a few other paintings. Here in south Texas, we have really enjoyed some really beautiful spring-like January days- the best days to paint in my studio with such great light. I do love watching this big guy come-to-life right in front of me- what fun! While painting him I imagine myself watching this beautiful animal running wild and free. Maybe it's a she, and she has a family back in the jungle, waiting for her to hunt for prey, and get back quickly to feed their hungry bellies. Maybe it's a he, and he is just roaming around, looking for some action!
All of God's creatures are so amazing and interesting to me. I love watching the Nat Geo Wild shows on TV, along with travel channels,too. There is so much to learn. I can hardly stand to become tired at the end of each day, knowing that I have to wind down and get my rest. I'd rather my body be young (again), needing less sleep, so I can pack in a few more hours of learning (and painting) each and every day. I'd love to have the energy I had when I was in my early twenties, but know what I know now in my mid fifties!

"When the Trumpets Sound" Young Elephants by Sandra Reeves Cutrer
Today my heart and mind was on painting, but it was also on the horrible cruise ship accident on the coast of Italy. So much horror and loss over one person's terrible decision to "avoid the correct path". Living a Christian life is a lot like this situation! God has given us a road map to heaven, and we should not take any detours.So much can happen when we take a walk away form God.When we receive God's truth and understanding of salvation, and have given our life to HIM, King Jesus, we have made a covenant with our maker. Sadly, I have known people who were delivered from terrible things in their lives- like addiction to alcohol,drugs,and other sins,only to go back into the very life that God had helped them to get out of. So sad.God help us all to stay firm and stand on God's promise that he will never leave us or forsake us- we owe them the same thing!
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. I Corinthians 10:13.

Rush Hour $95.00- by Sandra Reeves Cutrer
Rush Hour. Someone rightly said many years ago,time marches on and waits for no man. Running water reminds me of time. When I watch water running,especially on a rocky creek bed or stream , it has such a soothing effect. The sound is nice, but I'm always curious as to where it is in such a hurry to get to. Maybe the water isn't really going too far, before it reaches a smaller stream, and then a quiet pool, where it can take a deep breath and slow down for awhile. Maybe it's flowing sort of slowly from where I am standing at the moment, only trying to fool me into believing it will stay like that before it builds up great strength to go crashing down with a loud roar into a huge water fall farther down stream, where it will shockingly find itself in an even faster running river that eventually leads to an even greater body of water,the ocean! Whatever the case may be, it seems the water is always in a hurry, just like people.Take the time to meander today, not tomorrow. Watch the sunset on the river, or the bustle of the funny little stream. Smell those wildflowers, or listen to a mother bird chattering high in a tree at some unwelcome squirrel. Stop and watch children at play. Go outside and sit in the evenings, taking in your neighbor's dinner cooking down the street. Prima Donna, or "First Lady"
Cats can be so funny, so unpredictable, and sometimes moody! But, they can keep you laughing,smiling, and just plain happy to be alive. They seem to take everything with a grain of salt. If you watch a cat closely, you can learn a lot about how life should be. They don't worry about life- or death, they stretch after every nap (great for the muscles), expect their food from their master-on time, know when to back off, pressuring no one. They can take love, but prefer to give it on their own terms. I've had many dogs and cats through-out my life, and much prefer cats. Don't get me wrong, dogs are great in so many ways,but a cat seems to fit my personality like a nice pair of gloves. 12" x 12" x 1" gallery wrapped canvas ( all sides painted a dark hue) $125.00
Whether you are a cat lover, dog lover, or both, all animals are God's precious creatures. We should be kind to all, and appreciate each ones gift to mankind.

"Crown of Courage"
What is courage?
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia,the Symbolism for courage is the lion. It is sometimes seen as a depiction of Christ's triumph over sin (see Revelation 5:5). It also is a symbol in some cultures as a savior of the people who live in a community with sin and corruption. There are so many examples of everyday courage in the world we live in. We know that as long as the Lord's holy spirit is on the earth, we will see good things,true courage,Godly pride, and love.It is when God takes his spirit out of here, that we will lack courage- of any kind, no love will exist, and no peace will be found. God wants us each to have the courage it takes to live for HIM, do what is right, and know that we will have our reward one day-soon! Slim Pickins,rooster,chicken, original art, oil painting
"Slim Pickins" is a colorful, and very bossy rooster. He is painted in oils on a stretched canvas measuring 12"x 24".This guy was fussing at the hens who would dare to come near him, seemingly hoping that he might share whatever it was that he was pecking at. He put up a huge fuss as several tried their luck, making me think just maybe there really wasn't that much there, or either he was just being his bossy old self! OOPS- this piece is sold! Rings of Fire by Sandra Reeves Cutrer
I am so glad to be back home after a long trip to see family and friends in several southern states. My husband and I also took the time out to travel a little (without anyone else this time), visiting "our" beloved Biltmore Estate,located in Asheville,North Carolina. Although we have been there many times, each time we enter those enormous gates, we never cease to momentarily lose our breath at the hugeness of the house. We haven't been able to travel to Biltmore in 10 years, and a few things had changed that did not please us very well, and still there were other new things that were nice. Change should be added to the list of things we can't avoid besides taxes and death...
