Wiggles, the dog in stages of creation by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

Step #4  in the "creation" stages of Wiggles, the dog, commissioned painting.

After steps 1-3, I allowed Wiggles to dry for a day to keep his colors vibrant. It is so easy to keep painting when you are enjoying your work, but easier still to create mud from paint that is too wet. I am painting him on an 11" x14" Gesso prepped art board in oils.
I sent these step creation photos to the owner of Wiggles yesterday, and she is very pleased, already able to see her dog's personality coming out. Well, that pleases me. Stay with me as I post Ms Wiggles' stages of creation. If you are interested in having your pet's portrait done, or any other subject, please contact me at: sandrasart777@aol.com for commissions and prices.

Enjoy the holiday weekend, and remember why we are still a free country. Thank you to all of our military -past and present. Thanks,Dad.

Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.

Three's A Crowd by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

Three's A Crowd! An original oil painting on a large 24"x 36" stretched canvas, ready to frame and hang in your favorite spot!

The colors are brilliant, and help show the fine details of the Macaws and their gorgeous plumage. The "courting" pair seem to be saying," Ah, can't you see we are already an item!"

Did you know that Macaws mate for life, and have lived as a couple for up to 50 years!

The humble will see their God at work and be glad. Let all who seek God's help be encouraged.Psalm 69:32

Thank you for looking at my work, and reading my blog. Please contact me at: sandrasart777@aol.com for more information or any questions regarding my work.

"Don't I Know You?" by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

I had a blast painting this piece- looser than most of my work. Does she look like someone you know? Is she hiding her identity so she won't be followed? Or following someone she doesn't want to reveal herself to? Painted on gallery wrapped, stretched canvas- 10"x 20" x .5"-painted on sides so she can be hung unframed, or added to your favorite frame. She would make a great conversation piece for any room!
$125.00-Free shipping inside the USA!

“And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.” (Genesis 3:8).You can hide from man, but not from God.

Three's a Crowd! Artist Sandra Reeves Cutrer

Oh La-La... there is no gift better than spending some relaxing time with your better half... and there is no room for any company....
I tell my husband all of the time that life seems to be backward. Not that we didn't find some time together, but when we were younger, had kids all in our (very small) house, it seemed we had to get in the car and drive off to some out-of-the-way place just to have that "extra" time alone as a couple . Well, the kids are grown, we moved over 400 miles aways from most everyone in the family ( no unexpected drop-ins over here), and have a bigger house. But, there seems to not be much Oh La-La time- between all of his long hours at work, my work (art and taking care of everything at home that he doesn't have time for- like grocery shopping, cleaning, cooking, paying bills, yard work, phone calls, banking, running errands... you know), and just being worn-out by the time showers have been taken, and we flop down for some "Me time". So looking forward to my husband's retirement ... I don't know about the Oh La-La time, but I sure am hoping for more time to paint, while he takes care of some the above mentioned chores...LOL! 24" x 36" canvas, ready to frame.

I am my lover's, and he claims me as his own. Song of Solomon 7:10

Falling Leaves by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

As the leaves fall outside and the days turn colder, I am reminded that life, and death, go on. Time stops for no man, as everyone well knows. I have been scanning my many (over 6000) family photos for the last 5 months, or so. A few days ago, I scanned one of my elementary yearbooks, then made a list of the names of those that are no longer living. It nearly broke my heart. How sad to see such a long list for such a small school yearbook! But, the sun came up this morning, and God's world still turns. Today, I will love those around me, smile at every stranger, and do the best I can to be a blessing to those around me, as one never knows when another leaf will fall.

This painting is sold, but prints are available at Sandra-Cutrer.artistwebsites.com

"Ah, Three's a Crowd!" by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

I am finished! I had such a wonderful time painting this bold and bright Macaw painting with lots of details. Such cheerful colors made me so happy and excited to go to my studio each days for hours. I painted this one in oils, on a 24"x 36" stretched canvas. It is ready to frame and hang.

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

"Falling Leaves" in oils by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

Although this painting is now part of a private collection in New Orleans,LA, it remains one of my most favorite. Done in oils on a 16"x20" stretched linen canvas, with palette knives and several thick layers for added texture. I love the rich colors and the rhythm of the work. The leaves seem to be floating off of the deep red background

"Fruit of the Vine" by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

I love the flow of this piece, but especially the spiritual meaning that I got from painting it. In my heart I think of the leaves, their colors turning as the fall grabs at what remains of each life. The grapes, ripe and begging to be chosen. The wine glass, standing empty, but waiting to hold the "gift" from the labor of the vine. Like the grapes and leaves, our bodies age and gear toward the fall of our lives, with winter coming soon enough. We want to know that we have done something useful, hoping we have made a difference toward good in this world. We want to be able to pour out our gifts of knowledge, wisdom, love and lessons from mistakes we have learned before the end of our harvest. We want to share and know there was a real purpose for our life.

Fruit of the Vine

Today is the day that the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it!

"Fire on the Mountains" by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

"Fire on the Mountains" is painted on a 16"x20" stretched linen canvas. This was painted from a photo that I took several years ago while up in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee in October, just in time to see all of the magnificent display of fall colors. We had stopped the car to view something else, when I looked over and saw all of the yellows, reds, and the small path, probably made by deer or other wild animals that roam the mountain forest. $95.00 plus shipping cost which includes insurance and delivery confirmation signature.

Psalm 46:1-5a “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed,And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;Though its waters roar and be troubled,Though the mountains shake with its swelling. SelahThere is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved.” (NKJV)
