The Gathering, a group of cows in the making-oils on canvas

I left my beloved studio to spend some time on a family vacation. We had a great time in our nation's capital, Washington, D.C. My husband and I have visited once before, including our youngest son. This time, 12 years later,he and our oldest son were able to fly up and spend the week with us. The weather was wonderful. We walked for miles the first few days, then began to take the Metro. We also visited Mt.Vernon, President and Mrs. George Washington's home place. That was a full day in itself.  What a marvelous home and view he and Martha had!

Sadly, we came home on Sunday, only to get up Monday (yesterday) morning and get a call from our bank, alerting us that someone had stolen our card number- not our card, mind you, but had copied our number, made another card, and charged over $1000.00 to two Wal-Mart stores in northeast Texas, purchasing gift cards ( I assume to resell, or use to trade for drugs???). I know this isn't my typical art blogging, but I really felt it was important that I share with you about how easy someone stole our  our debit card number, and how it could easily be yours next time! Thankfully, we had only brought along a card that we deposit "vacation" money into, and not our main account card. I  have stayed on the telephone with the bank, stores, police department, and detective division for the last two days. Hopefully, this person, who by the way was captured on camera, will be caught and stopped. What a sad day some people will have when they meet their maker- Jesus Christ. They will wish they had never stolen, but it will be too late. Nothing is worth losing your soul for. My prayers are that they are caught, stopped, and have time to rethink their life goals.

Now, for my posted work! The Gathering, I think I will stick with that title. A herd of young cows are clustered together, on their way to being branded. I started this one before we left for our trip. Since I've spent two days trying to clear up the fraud mess, and catching up on chores after being gone for a week, I can soon return to my studio to complete this fun and colorful painting!
