Tatanka, an original Bison oil painting by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

Tatanka, means Bison in the Native American Indian language.

This big guy seems to be standing his ground, maybe chasing away rival males from his harem. My husband, younger son, and I traveled to the Midwestern states a few years back. One of these big guys decided to run a little on the main road- in the state park traffic. Thankfully, everyone knew to stop driving until he made up his mind where he wanted to go. It was such a neat experience to watch his huge, muscular beauty, enjoying his freedom to roam.We were also able to see the female (cows) with their babies, although they stayed further away, protecting their young from curious tourist.

Tatanka is painted on an 8" x 8" x 0.50" stretched canvas, all sides painted in a dark hue so it can hang unframed, or place it in your favorite frame.Prices are listed on my blog photo list, or please visit my website- for prices and more information @ sandracutrer.com.

Reaching Up! by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

"Reaching UP!" was one of my favorite abstracts.

SOLD-you can still buy a print on canvas, or paper, etc.! See my work at : Sandra-Cutrer.artistwebsites.com.

I love green- my favorite color, and it's complimentary color, of course, is red. This painting reminded me of the wonderful rain we had today. Last year pretty much the whole state of Texas was trying hard to survive a very long and hard drought, with many losing their homes and businesses. When I heard the loud thunder, and saw the lightning flash (okay, so I am really not thrilled to see lightning), I could have danced around my house. We need that rain! As soon as it was over, and thankfully that was a good few hours later, my newly planted spring flowers where standing straight and a little taller, reaching up to the sun with  new found energy from their thirsty roots bursting from that good soaking!

Joel 2:23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

Nebit, Leopard portrait in oils by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

Nebit, a variant of the Egyptian word for leopard. A close-up and personal portrait of one of the most powerful wild cats. Leopards are loners, not belonging to a pride, pack, or family of its own kind.

His eyes seem to tell a story. I love painting wild life portraits, and showing the details of each one's uniqueness.
Painted on a professional artist board, 9" x 12", ready for framing. So much detail, so realistic, this painting would look great in any room! For pricing, please scroll my blog's main page photos.

Three's A Crowd by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

Three's A Crowd! An original oil painting on a large 24"x 36" stretched canvas, ready to frame and hang in your favorite spot!

The colors are brilliant, and help show the fine details of the Macaws and their gorgeous plumage. The "courting" pair seem to be saying," Ah, can't you see we are already an item!"

Did you know that Macaws mate for life, and have lived as a couple for up to 50 years!

The humble will see their God at work and be glad. Let all who seek God's help be encouraged.Psalm 69:32

"Strutting My Stuff," Rooster painting by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

"Strutting My Stuff" is an original oil painting on a 12"x 12" x 1" gallery wrapped canvas. All sides are painted in a dark hue, so he can be left unframed if desired.

I love painting roosters, and have many roosters and hens in my personal collection. Not only are roosters beautiful, but they are such fun to watch! Yes, they can be a pain in the tail-feathers when they do their loud wake up call, they are bossy, rather sure-of-themselves, and cocky (pardon the pun), but they have a way about them that says,"Lay off my back and don't get in my way", causing one due respect. I mean, they aren't big animals, but you would think they are if one takes off chasing at your heels with that sharp beak!

All of God's creatures are a gift, each species unique, and beautiful in its own way. Each serves His purpose.

"Atsila" Native American Indian abstraction by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

"Atsila" means fire in Cherokee. This is an oil painting done in the expressionism style, on an 11"x14" stretched linen canvas, ready to be framed and enjoyed in your favorite room. No shipping charge (the price includes insurance, packaging, and a signature confirmation when purchase is delivered).
Like their distant cousins the Iroquois, the Cherokee Indians had an even division of power between men and women. Cherokee men were in charge of hunting, war, and diplomacy. Cherokee women were in charge of farming, property, and family. Men made political decisions for the tribe, and women made social decisions for the clans. Chiefs were men, and landowners were women. Both genders took part in storytelling, artwork and music, and traditional medicine. Today,Cherokee women can be chiefs also.

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name. (NASB)

Nebit- Leopard UNFINISHED by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

Nebit
Variant of Egyptian Nebibit, meaning leopard.

Still on my easel and very wet, but a good friend and I are on our way to another animal photo shoot for new reference materials,so I will have to finish him later.

Leopards, graceful and powerful large cats closely related to lions, tigers, and jaguars. They live in sub-Saharan Africa, northeast Africa, Central Asia, India, and China. Many of their populations are endangered, especially outside of Africa. Another species we must protect for future generations!
See you soon, with the finished Nebit!
Thanks for reading my blog and looking at my work. Have a blessed weekend.

Rings of Fire-Owl painting by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

"Rings of Fire" is a large barred owl, painted in oils. He was a commissioned painting. Although SOLDprints may be purchased at Sandra-Cutrer.artistwebsites.com

I think his eyes say it all! These birds are nocturnal hunters, bold, tough, and their keen eyesight is way beyond the abilities of the human eye. Because of the way their eye sockets sit inside their skull, the owl is unable to roll his eyeballs around like people, so therefore the neck moves instead. I think they are beautiful creatures, and demand respect. Barred owls require large expanses of mature forests, and are adversely affected by forest fragmentation. Within fragmented woodlots, barred owls are increasingly vulnerable to human disturbance and predation by great horned owls. Hopefully, with a little more concern and help, our future generations will be able to enjoy these beautiful creatures!

Psalm 96, verses 11-13:

Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad;
let the sea resound, and all that is in it.
Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them;
Let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.
Let all creation rejoice before the LORD, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his faithfulness.

"Don't I Know You?" by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

I had a blast painting this piece- looser than most of my work. Does she look like someone you know? Is she hiding her identity so she won't be followed? Or following someone she doesn't want to reveal herself to? Painted on gallery wrapped, stretched canvas- 10"x 20" x .5"-painted on sides so she can be hung unframed, or added to your favorite frame. She would make a great conversation piece for any room!
$125.00-Free shipping inside the USA!

“And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.” (Genesis 3:8).You can hide from man, but not from God.

"Light of Grace" by artist, Sandra Reeves Cutrer

It doesn’t matter how strong we think we are or how self-reliant we are, or how much we feel we are in control of our life, God will allow something to happen to us to remind us of our frailty. God wants us to recognize our own weakness. Everyday that we live is a day given to us by God, to do what is right, to obey him. We aren't here to just be happy, or in control. If that were so, we would not have pain, tears, trials, nor even death. But we do have hope for a place that will be like that, because of his grace!

Light of Grace- painted in oils, with added texture, on a gallery wrapped canvas ( all sides painted)-$325.00. No shipping charge from this site- if mailed in the USA.Includes insurance and a signature confirmation when received.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10, "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong."

Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Chief Wannabee by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

Painted from one of my many photos. This child loved to dress up in his American Indian-style headdress and clothing. I enjoyed (immensely) his "attitude" when I asked him to pose as a strong Indian brave. He took to his part well, don't you think!

Chief  Wannabee is painted in oils on a 12"x12"x2" stretched linen canvas
SOLD . Prints are available @ Sandra-Cutrer.artistwebsites.com.

Fruit of the Vine by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

I love the flow of this piece, but especially the spiritual meaning that I got from painting it. In my heart I think of the leaves, their colors turning as the fall grabs at what remains of each life. The grapes, ripe and begging to be chosen. The wine glass, standing empty, but waiting to hold the "gift" from the labor of the vine. Like the grapes and leaves, our bodies age and gear toward the fall of our lives, with winter coming soon enough. We want to know that we have done something useful, hoping we have made a difference toward good in this world. We want to be able to pour out our gifts of knowledge, wisdom, love, and lessons from mistakes we have learned, before the end of our harvest. We want to share and know there was a real purpose for our life.

Fruit of the Vine-oils- 24' x 30' x1.5", gallery wrapped canvas ( all sides painted. Can be framed or left unframed) $350.00. Free shipping inside the USA if purchased from this site or Etsy.com. Price includes ins. and shipping confirmation. Contact me at  sandrasart777@aol.com

Mescalero Apache American Indian drawing by artist, Sandra Reeves Cutrer

This is a quick sketch of my friend, Raymond. He was a proud Mescalero Apache, and good friend, He truly loved helping everyone, always volunteering for any good cause, especially Cub and Boy Scouts.

Jesus said, “Do not judge others, so that God will not judge you” (Matthew 7:1). Many people practice bigotry toward others as a way of feeling superior. Even some of those who call themselves Christians do this. But this is not the way of God. It isn't always easy to be a true Christian. Very few people today would be willing to make the kind of sacrifices that others have made for their faith. But we do not have to hate, commit acts of violence,be cruel with our words or actions. As true Christian's, we don't have to gossip, tell lies, or say anything negative about others. We can and should strive to live our lives as peacefully as possible – as God would want us to do.

First Lady $125.00- by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

Prima Donna, or "First Lady"

If you watch a cat closely, you can learn a lot about how life should be. They don't worry about life- or death, they stretch after every nap (great for the muscles), expect their food from their master-on time( thank you for our food,Lord), know when to back off, pressuring no one. They can take love, but prefer to give it on their own terms. I've had many dogs and cats through-out my life, and much prefer cats. Don't get me wrong, dogs are great in so many ways, but a cat seems to fit my personality like a nice pair of gloves.
Whether you are a cat lover, or dog lover, or both, animals are God's precious creatures. We should be kind to all, and appreciate each ones gift to mankind. 12" x 12" x 1" gallery wrapped canvas- sides painted a dark hue.

Fleur-de-lis by Texas artist, Sandra Reeves Cutrer

WOW- time has flown by! Where did February go? I am still waiting on a winter that never came to southeast TX! We are feeling blessed from several days of rain a while back, with more predicted to come this week. After such a drought last year, we are happy for every inch of the wet stuff! I have been busy in my studio. Painting this commission, "Fleur-de-lis",  a very different subject than what I feel my art is headed toward, but still fun. I love trying new things. Painting something different is like wearing a new hat-it may not be part of my every day wardrobe-but it's a most welcome change!

There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God,"
