Crown of Courage, a lion portrait by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

"Crown of Courage" is a large, original oil painting of a lion on a 24 x 30 x 1.5 inch gallery wrapped canvas- all sides are painted a continuation of the background colors. $ 575.00-plus $ 35.00 shipping, insurance, and a signature confirmation when your painting arrives. A higher shipping charge applies to Hawaii, Alaska, and Canada. Please contact me with any questions.
I worked carefully to make the focus his great mane, his "crown of courage". A lion's mane, and the size of it, is so important for the male lion in the wild. A large mane, healthy and long, can bring on the admiration of many beautiful lionesses that are looking for a strong and courageous male. She is looking for the special male who can give her healthy and strong cubs. The bigger the mane, the bigger the lion seems to be, which is very enticing to the females in the area. It also comes in handy to scare off any younger or smaller lions that might try to come into his territory.
Psalm 46:2 - Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.

Tiger in the Grass by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

"Tiger in the Grass" is a palette knife painting, in oils, on a stretched 12" x 12" x 1" gallery wrapped canvas- SOLD!

I had the best time painting this piece with a thick acrylic lay-in, and then topped with high-quality oils. Don't you love his eyes! He looks to be searching for something to play with, more than something to eat. Maybe, he is looking through the grasses while trying to  hide from his sibling, or his mother... we can always be hopeful that he was enjoying some "kitten-in-the-grass" time, just being younger for a little while always does a heart good!

Thank you for reading my blog and looking at my work.Although this piece is sold, I love taking commissions. Please view my other work on my blog. Prints of this painting may be purchased by going to Sandra-Cutrer.artistwebsites.com. The site also offers posters, canvas prints, or high quality paper prints, cards, and more.

Psalm 37:3 - Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

Rocky Mountain Warrior by Wildlife Artist Sandra Reeves Cutrer

"Rocky Mountain Warrior" is an original oil portrait of a large ram. I have painted in as much detail as possible to convey the rough texture of his thick coarse fur. These big guys are fighters, using their horns against other males to fight for leadership among the easy going female sheep. Built for climbing and cold weather, the ram is a beautiful example of God's many creatures who are to be respected and taken care of for our future generations. Painted in oils on a professional art board, ready for your favorite frame. $325.00 plus shipping and insurance.

Queen of the Beast a Lioness by Wildlife Artist Sandra Reeves Cutrer

A beautiful girl, living at the Houston,TX Zoo. She seemed pretty content, playing around with her male companion. This lioness is painted in oils on a small 5" x 7" canvas, ready to frame and hang in your favorite room. For prices see my photo listing on my blog, or view my website @ sandracutrer.com.
I really enjoy going to the Houston,TX Zoo for a few hours of visiting with the animals, checking on their newest habitats, and photographing them in their various "poses"-LOL! Actually, she was such a lady for me that day, as she seemed to realize that I was a returning visitor. At other times she rolls over and won't allow me one good shot. You have to love these awesome cats, with strong minds of their own!

The Gathering, a group of cows in the making-oils on canvas

I left my beloved studio to spend some time on a family vacation. We had a great time in our nation's capital, Washington, D.C. My husband and I have visited once before, including our youngest son. This time, 12 years later,he and our oldest son were able to fly up and spend the week with us. The weather was wonderful. We walked for miles the first few days, then began to take the Metro. We also visited Mt.Vernon, President and Mrs. George Washington's home place. That was a full day in itself.  What a marvelous home and view he and Martha had!

Sadly, we came home on Sunday, only to get up Monday (yesterday) morning and get a call from our bank, alerting us that someone had stolen our card number- not our card, mind you, but had copied our number, made another card, and charged over $1000.00 to two Wal-Mart stores in northeast Texas, purchasing gift cards ( I assume to resell, or use to trade for drugs???). I know this isn't my typical art blogging, but I really felt it was important that I share with you about how easy someone stole our  our debit card number, and how it could easily be yours next time! Thankfully, we had only brought along a card that we deposit "vacation" money into, and not our main account card. I  have stayed on the telephone with the bank, stores, police department, and detective division for the last two days. Hopefully, this person, who by the way was captured on camera, will be caught and stopped. What a sad day some people will have when they meet their maker- Jesus Christ. They will wish they had never stolen, but it will be too late. Nothing is worth losing your soul for. My prayers are that they are caught, stopped, and have time to rethink their life goals.

Now, for my posted work! The Gathering, I think I will stick with that title. A herd of young cows are clustered together, on their way to being branded. I started this one before we left for our trip. Since I've spent two days trying to clear up the fraud mess, and catching up on chores after being gone for a week, I can soon return to my studio to complete this fun and colorful painting!
