"Rings of Fire" is a large barred owl, painted in oils. He was a commissioned painting. Although SOLD- prints may be purchased at Sandra-Cutrer.artistwebsites.com
I think his eyes say it all! These birds are nocturnal hunters, bold, tough, and their keen eyesight is way beyond the abilities of the human eye. Because of the way their eye sockets sit inside their skull, the owl is unable to roll his eyeballs around like people, so therefore the neck moves instead. I think they are beautiful creatures, and demand respect. Barred owls require large expanses of mature forests, and are adversely affected by forest fragmentation. Within fragmented woodlots, barred owls are increasingly vulnerable to human disturbance and predation by great horned owls. Hopefully, with a little more concern and help, our future generations will be able to enjoy these beautiful creatures!
Psalm 96, verses 11-13:
Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad;
let the sea resound, and all that is in it.
Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them;
Let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.
Let all creation rejoice before the LORD, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his faithfulness.
Blessings,
