"Rocky Mountain Warrior" is an original oil portrait of a large ram. I have painted in as much detail as possible to convey the rough texture of his thick coarse fur. These big guys are fighters, using their horns against other males to fight for leadership among the easy going female sheep. Tatanka, a Bison Portrait in oils by Sandra R Cutrer

Tatanka, means Bison in the Native American Indian language. 
This big guy seems to be standing his ground, maybe chasing away rival males from his harem. My husband, younger son, and I traveled to the Midwestern states a few years back. A bison similar to this one decided to run a little on the main road- in the state park traffic. Thankfully, everyone knew to stop driving until he made up his mind where he wanted to go!
