Hats off to a great, warm Monday

Good morning! The weather in Lake Jackson will be in the mid seventies for this last day of January, but (according to my favorite meteorologist) by Friday snow is predicted! I am thinking this can only happen in the deep south.

We had traveled back home to Louisiana for our first Christmas after moving here to Texas. A new friend of ours called on Christmas day to say that it was snowing, about a foot deep, which was a big deal here in the deep south. We finished up our Christmas with family, grabbed our two granddaughters who would be staying with us for a week, and headed back to TX that night. We arrived at 1:30 AM. It was beautiful! The girls and I ran all over our front yard, playing, throwing snowballs and making snow angels, while my husband tried to quiet us a bit to keep our exuberance from waking the neighbors! The next Christmas Pop and Nana were not thinking about the snow from the year before, but it brought sad faces to our girls when we drove up.They looked out the window and asked us," Where is the snow?", thinking it snowed here for Christmas every year!

Have a blessed day and I hope you will enjoy my painting for the day: Day Lilies

Sunday

Rain, rain, and more rain. But I am finally getting around to working on my blog, which really needed some updates! I have several paintings that I hope to add soon. I don't get too much painting done on Sunday's, especially when it is so dark and rainy like today. My studio is my covered patio (don't worry, it has nice insulation and vinyl windows). When it is dark outside, it it really too dark on my patio/studio. I need lots of glorious sunshine to feel like I am painting the true colors that I want my paintings to express. No matter what lighting I use out there, there has yet to be any that compares to God's great ball of fire- Mr.Sun!
We don't really know how much we depend on the things that God has made for us until we don't have them! I do love the rain at times ( who could live without green grass, flowers, and drinking water to name just a few), but I am a sunny-day girl for sure!!!
Have a blessed day and happy painting,
Sandra

Friday

Wow, has this week passed fast or what! I got to paint a little this week, including the kind of painting that I am not to crazy about- as in painting my dining room. There are times when I really love my big house, and other times ( like when there is so much upkeep) I'd rather have a place for a bed, small kitchen, and bathroom with a BIG art studio. I am not sure how my husband would feel about that!
I am up way too early, but there are errands to run, then we are off to the Houston Zoo to catch their new African Forest. I love photography, besides painting.I am going to try out my newest digital camera and bring along my older one, also.I hope all of the animals will behave and pose graciously for me!
Blessings and Happy Painting,
Sandra

Tuesday

What a wonderful day today was! Filled with sunshine and a warmer temp!
I painted  some more on my bird painting, and finished the final coating on several other paintings that have been drying for awhile. And,  even touched up a few more of my works. It was so great to be out there, enjoying my CD's ( about the only time I have for listening to music) and my art work. Some days I just think my studio is my little piece of heaven- just me and my kitty, Ms Bella Rue out there... but there are still those days when everything that I paint looks awful and I wonder why I torture myself with art!!! Such is the life of an artist. Gotta love us! :)
Blessings and happy painting to my fellow painters!

"A Lot of Bull" by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

It is a dark and rainy "blue" Monday. Since my art studio is out on my screened and vinyl window patio, dark days are a big problem for me to get any painting done without the much needed sunshine that I normally get. On rainy days like this one, I try to catch up on my emails, search for future painting material, and complete a few undone chores around my house, or catch up on my sketching.

I was pleased to get a nice email  about my "A Lot of Bull" longhorn painting. I have pasted the story, and  hope you will enjoy it as much as I did!

"The Watusi is an amazing animal. We have had our bull for about 10 years. He had his horns tipped and is the only breed we know of that sharpened them back up. He is very protective of his new lady love, a red Watusi heifer. He is amazing, when I fed them cubes he waited until she came up to the trough to start eating. A gentleman, lol. Our neighbor likes it when he bellers. He sounds like a male elk."
Thanks for the story,Kathy!
A Lot of Bull is painted in oils on a 24"x 30"x 1.5" wrap around canvas, so no need for framing.

Wednesday

Just getting back from a long weekend in the TX Hill Country. I didn't get to paint, as I was "stuck" in a hotel room while my husband went hunting. Don’t feel sorry for me, as I enjoyed the peaceful days, lying in bed with a good book, while it was rainy and cold outside! Lots of chores to catch up on today, but tomorrow should be a great painting day! I did get a few great photos while we were on our trip, so I have some new materials to draw from, and some fresh ideas. It is always great to get away for a few days. Also, I bought a new digital camera so that I can take better photos for my work!

God made a wonderful world, so chocked full of amazing colors, textures, and pure beauty! We are so blessed!!!

Have a wonderful second half of the week everyone, and happy painting to my fellow artist.

Tuesday

Burrrrr, it is cold today in south TX!
Yesterday I finished a monochromatic painting of our Snowshoe Siamese kitty, Ms Bella. She doesn't care for the camera much, but I did manage to snap a few good shots to paint from. She is painted on a 12"x12", gallery wrapped stretched linen canvas, in acrylics. I chose blue for my monochrome painting because of her beautiful blue eyes, and bluish tinted fur. She is truly a warm hearted kitty that we rescued 4 years ago. I think she rescued us,too!

Blessings and Happy Painting to my fellow artist,

Sandra

Monday

Happy Monday morning!
First, I have changed my email contact to sandrasart777@AOL.com. Secondly,I finally stopped painting on my lion, "Crown of Bravery".Other than the final coating, I am "finished" ! Sometimes it is so hard to feel like you are "finished" with a painting. My husband, bless his heart, is great about telling me ( warning me?) I had better put down the paint brush on certain works. Most artist tend to over "do", always trying to find the perfect stopping point!
He is painted in oils on a 24x30,1 1/2"thick gallery wrapped, stretched linen canvas ( no need to frame). $400.00
Please feel free to join and keep up with my most recent blogs and paintings! Blessings and Happy New Year!

Mr. and Mrs. Don Key. Okay, maybe this is corny, but she was so big and pregnant when I took the photo for this painting. They ran to the fence when I came up,probably thinking I had a treat for them. So cute! 16"x20", oils, original. $100.00 plus shipping

Sunday

A cute little acrylic painting ( 8x8). I actually painted over a used canvas that my son had, but wasn't quite enjoying the painting that was on it originally. He loves the painting now, especially the bright colors! :) Have a very blessed day. and,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
