Three's a Crowd! Artist Sandra Reeves Cutrer

Oh La-La... there is no gift better than spending some relaxing time with your better half... and there is no room for any company....
I tell my husband all of the time that life seems to be backward. Not that we didn't find some time together, but when we were younger, had kids all in our (very small) house, it seemed we had to get in the car and drive off to some out-of-the-way place just to have that "extra" time alone as a couple . Well, the kids are grown, we moved over 400 miles aways from most everyone in the family ( no unexpected drop-ins over here), and have a bigger house. But, there seems to not be much Oh La-La time- between all of his long hours at work, my work (art and taking care of everything at home that he doesn't have time for- like grocery shopping, cleaning, cooking, paying bills, yard work, phone calls, banking, running errands... you know), and just being worn-out by the time showers have been taken, and we flop down for some "Me time". So looking forward to my husband's retirement ... I don't know about the Oh La-La time, but I sure am hoping for more time to paint, while he takes care of some the above mentioned chores...LOL! 24" x 36" canvas, ready to frame.

I am my lover's, and he claims me as his own. Song of Solomon 7:10

Bravado,an Indian Brave $425.00- by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

Bravado, an Indian Brave.

Original painting in oils on a 16"x20" stretched canvas. $425.00

I love to paint American Indians, and animals. Both have such a free spirit. Both only ask that they be able to live among the beauty of God's earth. Both appreciate the wonder of all God's gifts- freely taking, and freely giving back in their own unique ways. Free to roam, Free to love. Neither had, nor will ever have, an easy life. They don't ask for that, nor would they understand such things. They know that survival is about learning, growing, paying attention to their surroundings, and looking out for family and friends. We could all learn from the ways of the true Native American Indians, and all of God's wonderful creation.
Acts 17:29 "Therefore since we are God's offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone--an image made by man's design and skill.

Sand and Sea Horses $125.00- by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

 Sand and Sea Horses

An original oil painting on an 11" x 14" stretched canvas, ready for framing. $125.00

This is one of my favorite paintings. When I look at it, I feel like I am on the beach, tuning my ears to the sounds of the water lapping at the sand. I feel the sun's last gift of warmth before fading away. Watching the horses, as they and their riders slowly make their way toward the huge dunes, I feel their contentment. So relaxing...God's word tells us to step away form our busy days, tuning into feelings of peace and His mighty love. We need to find a quiet place each and every day, if only for a few moments, to re-charge our batteries. Take a deep breath, or two. Close your eyes, and imagine a place like this for a few moments. It will get you through the rest of your day with a smile!

The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught.31 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest."32 So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. Mark 6:30-32

Rocky Mountain Warrior $325.00- by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

"Rocky Mountain Warrior" is an original oil painting on an 11"x14" Ampersand Fine art board. $325.00. No shipping fees if mailed in the USA.

This longhorn sheep is one of many endangered animals on our huge planet these days. Sadly, this animal species has nearly vanished ( as I wrote in my last blog showing my lay-in work) from many of the areas that it once roamed freely in. A male sheep is called a Ram, and their horns serve as an imposing status symbol. A Ram’s horns are used for dominance and weapons during battles for mating rights.
Sheep are mentioned in the Bible more than 500 times, more than any other animal. The prominence of sheep in the Bible grows out of two realities. Sheep were important to the nomads and agricultural life of the Hebrews and similar peoples. And, sheep are used throughout the Bible to symbolically refer to God's people.
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. (John 10:27)

Longhorn Sheep in the process By Sandra Reeves Cutrer

These are 3 shots of the first stages (lay-in) of my longhorn sheep. What  magnificent creatures these beauties are! I hope to finish this one soon. Painted in oils on an 11"x14" Ampersand canvas board.

At the beginning of the nineteenth century, there were between 1.5 million to two million bighorn sheep in North America. Today, there are less than 70,000.

These beautiful sheep were once widespread throughout western North America. By the 1920’s, bighorn sheep were eliminated from Washington, Oregon, Texas, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and part of Mexico. Today, populations have been re-established through transplanting sheep from healthy populations into vacant places.Hunting, loss of food from livestock grazing and disease from domestic livestock have devastated bighorn sheep populations.

Let's hope that these wonderful creatures will again roam freely in the places that they used to belong.

"O Lord, You preserve both man and beast." Psalm 36:6
