Gabby, original, oil painting, horse, portrait by Sandra Cutrer

"Gabby" , an original oil painting on an 8" x 10" stretched canvas. This pretty little filly is owned by a sweet little girl whose parents commissioned me to paint this portrait for her birthday. I totally enjoyed making sure the young lady was happy with the progress, and sent her the photos of all stages of the work. At near completion she decided she wanted Gabby's name painted on the far right top of the painting, which I did for her. Now, we are waiting for Gabby to dry, so she can be framed and hung in her owner's bedroom.
If you are interested in having your own horse, or other favorite pet painted in oils, please contact me. My prices are fair, and I offer a layaway plan for all budgets.

I compare you, my love, to a mare among Pharaoh's chariots. Song of Solomon 1:9

Whisper of White, original, large great egret, oils on canvas

I had just completed "Great Egret", a smaller original oil painting of a Great Egret in a marsh-like landscape. It sold quickly, which is great, but I had totally fell in love with this beautiful, graceful white bird. With its long "S" neck (that can easily twist around like a piece of licorice), long, dark lanky legs, and a soft whisper of lacy white plumes, how could one not see beauty in this wonderful creature!Excited with his beauty, I grabbed a much larger canvas, and painted him big, bold, and (I think) in a way that shows his true beauty even more detailed. I hope you think he is a beauty, too!

A few fun facts from National Geographic:
The great egret is the symbol of the National Audubon Society and represents a conservation success story. The snowy white bird's beautiful plumage made it far too popular in 19th-century North America. Great egrets were decimated by plume hunters who supplied purveyors of the latest ladies' fashions. Their populations plunged by some 95 percent. Today the outlook is much brighter. The birds have enjoyed legal protection over the last century, and their numbers have increased substantially.

The earth is the Lord's and all that is in it, the world, and those who live in it; for God has founded it on the seas, and established it on the rivers.
Psalm 24:1-2

Great Egret, white bird, landscape, original, oil painting

"Great Egret", a lovely plumed white bird. Original oil painting on an 8" x 10" professional artist panel, ready for your favorite frame! Oops- this piece SOLD! But, I would love to paint one similar to this one especially for you!

Isn't he a beautiful bird! I love his lacy plumes, and elegant long neck. He seems to be enjoying the local scene, checking out the marshy wet-land, feeling pretty good about life, and (of course) contemplating on what's for dinner!

Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. Jeremiah 33:3

Kito, a close-up, cheetah, original, oil painting

I hope you have been following my blog, and saw "Kito" being created! Here he is, all finished! I hope you like him as much as I do.

"Kito", a close-up, original and realistic styled oil painting of a cheetah at The Houston Zoo, Houston,Texas. Prices are listed on my main art work page.

I enjoy photographing the animals while traveling and visiting many of our great zoos. When able, I really enjoy talking to the zoo keepers and curators. I try to paint each animal's personality, as they all unique. This cheetah seemed very content, having a large and very clean enclosure. He, and other cheetahs at The Houston Zoo, are periodically taken to a local racetrack where they are allowed, with totally safe supervision, to run free for a while. By allowing them special time to run, their muscles are kept toned, their bodies healthier, and their minds as active as possible, yet remain in a safe environment. Sadly, the worst enemy of a cheetah is man. So many of our beautiful big cats are no longer living in a wild environment, free to roam as they were generations before. Zoos, and their trained keepers, along with other licensed and trained wildlife centers seem to be the future of these great creatures, until we humans decide to severely punish those whose intent is bent on destroying  our planet the way God planned it to be.

But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing. James 1:25
