"Rosie Bell", a horned cow painting by Sandra R Cutrer

SOLD! "Rosie Bell" is a palette knife painting. I used thick oil paint on a 6" x 6" x 1.5" stretched-wrapped canvas (all sides will be painted a dark hue).

My mom and dad had a little over eight acres years ago, and tried their hand at raising cows. It was fun for awhile, feeding the calves large bottles of milk, and watching them grow. One of my mother's favorite cows was named Rosie. My mom liked Rosie, but Rosie liked to play rough, and "bump" mom, or anyone who came in the field. We knew she was only playing, but she was too big to play so rough, not knowing she far out-weighed any of us!
In memory of Rosie, Bell, Hondo, Billy Boy,Rusty, and all of those other over-grown calves who enjoyed play time.

"Racer" a Zebra Portrait in oils by Sandra R Cutrer

I finished my zebra painting today, and I am very pleased. Photos were taken back in May at the zoo in Baton Rouge,LA. My nephew just contacted me, letting me know that one of the zebras had her colt this week! I'd like to think this was the zebra that gave birth (or the father)! A great excuse for me to take a trip back to Baton Rouge, to visit family, and see the newest zebra!

I really enjoyed the challenge of keeping the stripes correct, but really, there are no two zebras with exact same stripes, so who would know...well, I would (grin)! My OCD would have kicked in and never allowed me to not paint this beautiful zebra as he/she was.
Thank you for reading my blog, and looking at my work.
All of my paintings are listed on my blog, below, for sell. Prices are listed, along with shipping charges. If not, or there is a question or comment, or you would like to purchase my work, please contact me at: sandrasart777@aol.com

Zebra lay-in oils on canvas by Sandra R Cutrer

Here is a peek at my new Zebra painting. Just the lay-in started. I hope to work on it some more today. Painting it in oils on a 6" x  6" x 1.5" wrapped canvas- all sides will be painted a dark hue, no need to frame.
Zebras seem to be very curious. When I visited the Baton Rouge,LA zoo, these guys were tops for coming closer to check out my camera!

A fun fact about Zebras is, they can run up to 40 miles per hour and baby zebras can run an hour after they are born!

Thanks for reading my blog and looking at my work. If you are interested in purchasing one of my paintings, please view all of the photo's on my blog, along with listed prices. You may contact me at: sandrasart777@aol.com.

A fun fact about tigers:
The heaviest tiger recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records is a 1,025-pound male Siberian tiger.

Tiger painting in the making by Sandra R Cutrer

I am having so much fun painting on several  6" x 6" x1.5" (wrapped) canvases this late few days. Wild life is one of my greatest loves! I enjoy painting detail, and often chose to paint animal portraits, with special emphasis to the animal's eyes. Truly, the eyes are the windows to the soul!

Hopefully, I will finish this one soon and it will be ready for a new owner who loves animals as much as I do!

"Afternoon Delight" a duck painting by Sandra R Cutrer

"Afternoon Delight" is a small (6" x 6") oil painting on a gallery wrapped canvas, all sides painted a dark hue.
This painting was done from one of my many photos, taken at the Houston Zoo. Getting in close, I went for a shot that, once painted, would still convey the beauty of the duck's soft feathers, and its beautiful dark eye peeking out at me. I am sure it wasn't thrilled that I disturbed its delightful afternoon nap!

The Gathering by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

"The Gathering", a group of young cattle who look to be getting ready to take a family portrait. I think they were more interested in being fed, though!OOPS! This piece is SOLD! I would love to paint one similar to this one especially for you. Please contact me for more details!

A mixture of dark hues created a "black" frame on the front of the canvas. I think I like how it compliments the colors in the cattle, and since I painted this on a gallery- wrap around canvas, there is no need to frame at all! The canvas is an 8" x 16", painted in oils.
