Jim Carrey, Comedian I Didn't Like, Now My Friend- sort of.

 Jim Carrey Arts
 http://www.jimcarreyonline.com/recent/news.php?id=1690

"All there will ever be is what's happening here. Decisions we make in this moment are based in either love or fear. So many of us choose our path out of fear, disguised as practicality." (Jim Carrey)

Esoterica: Growing up in our house, we would see some early original lithographic drawings hanging in the hallway near our bedrooms -- fast, loose sketches filled with casual élan. One in particular is of a little girl in knee socks. She's drawn twice on the same page -- a quick exercise, and then a second sketch -- a second chance at crafty effortlessness. In the lower right hand corner is a small, hand-lettered bit of text. It reads: "Love something? Serve it." And underneath is my Dad's signature.

"How will you serve the world? What do they need that you can provide? The effect you have on others is the most valuable currency there is." (Jim Carrey)

I just recently found out that Jim Carrey is an artist- of Fine Arts, not just comedy. I know many people love him, rant and rave on and on about his comic abilities. I mean, geez, the man is a millionaire several times over from his movies alone- right? But, to me (another person who loves to make people LOL) he is sometimes, well... obnoxious! But, when I found out he picks up brushes, paints, canvases, not to mention  creating sculptures (and, no I personally don't really care for a lot of his work), he is a fellow artist, a friend- well, sort of! We artist should stick up for one another. We have a reputation for being sort "weird, strange", or even "off". I've heard the words describing artist as,"out-there, loners, different". So, why not stick together and support one another? Sadly, I have encountered other artist who don't want to support other artist. I have also seen these people, although talented beyond words, ostracized and reaping some of their  sown seeds. Let's have fun, share, laugh, throw away jealousy and envy... the trip called life is extremely short!

Thanks Jim, for your art.

We should all take advantage of the possibility, availability and responsibility to create, whether  some people like us or not, just do it as our reasonable service!

Jake, a baby's portrait in oils by Sandra Cutrer

Aren't these some of the cutest chubby-cheeks? I could just get a ton of sugary-kisses off of them if I could only get to see him in person! He happens to me my fourth cousin, and thanks to social media (FACEBOOK), I was able to "see" him. Without FB, I probably would have never gotten to know his Mom, or any of my other cousins in this wonderful family. When she posted this photo I had to paint it. Getting permission was easy, as his Mom so graciously allowed it. It has been awhile since I painted a person's portrait, as I mainly focus on animals. I am thrilled that I received a lot of positive feedback from FB admirers. He was a lot of fun to paint, and because of him, I hope to paint more baby portraits soon!

Blessings for a wonderful month of June, and many thanks for reading my blog.

Mo Vision, a show donkey in oils

"Mo Vision", a gelding show donkey I photographed at The Houston Texas Rodeo. I was thrilled to meet Mo Vision, and Ida Claire, along with their owner, Professor Jayne Zajicek.  Don't you just adore his brightly colored slinky suit (cover) that keeps his mane all sleek and ready-to-show, along with being kept clean from any  hay-rolling he may want to do, before bringing him before the judges. I think his name fits him well, and I wish them all the best!

Some fun facts about donkeys:

A male donkey and a female horse may give birth to a mule; a male horse and female donkey make a hinny.

China has the largest number of donkeys with about 11 million of the world’s 41 million.

Robert Louis Stevenson, in his Travels With A Donkey, reported that the correct word to encourage a donkey to move faster is 'Proot!’

There are about 800 donkeys working on British beaches, with more than 200 licensed in Blackpool.

Since 2005, donkeys in Britain have been required to have a passport.

The phrase ‘donkey’s years’ to mean a long time began as a pun on the length of donkey ears.

The correct collective noun for groups of donkeys are a drove, herd or pace of donkeys.

I hope you've enjoyed reading my blog. Please scroll through my price list and photos of all of my pieces for sell. I'd love to ship Mo Vision to you, or create a special commissioned piece of your favorite subject.

Secrets Among the Flowers butterfly in oils artist board

"Secrets Among the Flowers" , a female Pipevine Swallowtail butterfly, painted in oils on a 9" x 12" artist board, ready to ship for you to enjoy her brilliant colors- and just pure beauty- for many years to come!

I have never met a butterfly that did not make me smile! Isn't this one truly spectacular with its lovely blues and blacks, enjoying spring among the new blooms? She may be pollinating, but I like to think she is actually laying her eggs (larvae) underneath the new leaves for future butterflies just as lovely as their mother!

Please visit my blog or website for my price listing.

Thank you so much for reading my blog and looking at my art work!

Great Dane portrait in ols by Sandra Cutrer

A Great Dane portrait in oils on a small 6" x 6" x 1.5" wrapped canvas. Prices are listed on my photo post or on my web site @ sandracutrer.com. I really enjoy painting animals, and especially people's beloved pets. Contact me for your own personal commissioned piece. A forever gift to yourself, or another pet lover in your life!

A few fun facts about Great Danes:

  •  Size: The weight of Great Danes range from 100 - 120 pounds
  •  Size: The height OF Great Danes ranges from 28 - 32 inches, up to the shoulder
  •  Alternative Names of Great Danes and Nicknames: German Mastiff or Danish Hound
  •  Coat and colors of Great Danes: The coat is normally short, sleek and dense and comes in a range of
  • Origin of the breed: Great Danes originated in Germany, not Denmark as the name suggests, and were originally bred as hunting dogs. Their quarry was large game such as wild boar
  • colors including brindle, fawn, blue, black or harlequin.
I think Great Dane's are totally beautiful. Although they are large, they think they are lap dogs, and adore attention. Such a sweet, friendly breed for having indoors.

If you are lucky enough to have a dog for a pet, take them for a long walk while the weather is still amazing- or at least it is here in southeast,Texas.

Blessings for a great weekend,

Hey, May Called a macaw original oil painting by Sandra R Cutrer

"Hey, May Called!", a macaw original oil painting by Sandra R Cutrer on a 9" x 12" canvas board, ready to hang in your favorite frame.

There was no option but to use bright oils for this lovely "eye-popping" Macaw portrait. Isn't he gorgeous to look at! I love these birds, and used a photograph I took at the wonderful Audubon Zoo, located in historical  New Orleans, Louisiana.
I enjoy traveling and taking reference photos at many zoos around the magnificent USA! What a joy to see such beautiful creatures that I may never get the opportunity to see in their true native habitats. Although in captivity, many are actually safer in zoos, that are trying to give them as much of a natural setting as if they were living in their native lands. Many are sadly on the endangered list, and my prayers and hopes are that one day- soon- there will be no more endangered list of any animals, so our future generations can enjoy all of the beauty and diversity that God intended!
Please scroll down my list of art works for sell, prices should be listed including shipping and insurance. Or, visit my web site @ sandracutrer.com. Feel free to contact me with any questions or request for an original oil painting custom made just for you, or one of those listed for sell.

Thank you.
