If you've read my last post, you saw my painting stages of this tiger, along with some photos of the magnificent Mike the Tiger VI, mascot for Louisiana State University (LSU). This isn't Mike VI, but I wanted to share a few photos of him, and remember him by painting a tiger. We are all still very sad about his passing. But glad for Mike that is is now cancer, and pain free.

Remembering LSU's mascot, Mike the Tiger VI

Sketching the tiger on a 16" x 20" x 1.5" (deep) gallery wrapped canvas. All sides will be painted, so no need for a frame!

The eyes are my favorite thing to paint. They bring life to God's creation.

Coming along with the first layers. LSU colors are purple and gold.

I've worked more on the back ground, and a little more detail.I always intend to paint looser, but something always makes me put in those details!

I sure hope you will come back soon to see the finished painting!

I've attached a few photos. Louisiana State University recently lost their beloved Mascot, "Mike the Tiger" VI, to cancer.
He was so grand,

In Louisiana, they like to say, "ALL TIGERS GEAUX to HEAVEN!"

See you, later, big guy.                                                                                                                     Sandra Cutrer, Fine Art

Macaw and a cat

As you can see, I have the Macaw sketched, and a little work going on in the background.

I've added a little of the brilliant colors to his glorious head! I am still playing with the back ground.

I've started in on the blues of his feathers- how beautiful these birds are- WOW!

I'm using my own photo references.I love taking photos, mostly at zoos when my hubby and I get to travel. We have children scattered all over, so we are on the road quite often. We usually take along our grand-cat, Miss MaLee. You can see a photo of her at the end of this post.

I'm still not thrilled with the background, but I will dabble a bit more on that a little later...

MaLee, doing a little critiquing for me. We hope you'll come back and see the finished product!!!

Starting with a lose sketch. I plan to add flag stripes to the background.

Working on the lay-in of the eagle. Isn't he grand? I love birds, and am especially proud of the American Eagle. I'd love to touch one. Maybe I can add that to my bucket list!!!

As I've mentioned before, we have our car riding Malee. We just returned from a short getaway.Of course she went with us.I found her a new traveling dress. She wears the dresses to keep her loose hair at bay, as well as to keep her warm. She does not like cold at all. I think she is a happy girl living in south Texas where the weather is still in the eighties, and sometimes nineties, even in October- December! Besides loving to travel with my husband and I, she loves laying around on our screened and covered patio (safe from feral kitties that roam around here quiet a bit), soaking up the sun, watching the bird feeders in our backyard.
